Teisco/Kingston guitars

I may sell my Epiphone Les Paul Custom Plus, which is too heavy for me to play comfortably, and buy a Teisco. Has anyone else played Teisco guitars? Also marketed under the name Kingston, they’re a Japanese brand from the 60s that has gold-foil pickups and a sound that no other guitar comes close to. Supposedly Ry Cooder used to take the pickups out of Teiscos and put them in his Stratocaster.
