I understand what you mean, and early on I think they did that quite well. But eventually it got to the point where the whole shtick was just being snarky for its own sake, so the recappers would invent criticisms that weren’t fair - and most importantly, weren’t really funny or insightful - because just admitting that, hey, yeah, that worked pretty well wasn’t part of the mission statement anymore.

I don’t recall experiencing that. The recaps I read praised the show when it was good. In fact, Jacob, who was criticized above, often openly celebrated the shows in his recaps. Jacob was their last great recapper.
