Tell me about advertising on the SDMB

(I have nothing that I actually want to advertise; I’ve just been wondering about the following issue.)

Okay, so advertising is verboten unless you pay to place an ad. E.g., links in threads are removed.

One of the benefits of SDMB membership is that ads are hidden.

What do I do if I want to advertise to SDMB members? What if I’m an SDMB member who offers a product or service that would be of interest to other SDMB members?

Should there be something like a “Marketplace” subforum?

We’ve discussed a forum devoted to exactly that kind of thing but nothing is in place yet.

I’ll bring it back up again and see if I can’t get some action. No promises but I can try.
