I’m in the US and have grown up watching American television commercials.
Recently, I saw a couple of commercials from Channel 4 in the UK, and heard some jokes about commercials in the UK, and they actually seemed pretty much on par with commercials here. But that was just a tiny, tiny sample.
I’m not talking about commercials you see in clip collections of “The Greatest TV Commercials From Around The World”…more like what you’d see during the news, what you’d see during sports events, how kids are marketed to, how prevalent are beer ads, etc.
It’d probably be easier to compare and contrast if you’re familiar with commercials in the US and other countries, but if you’re not familiar with US commercials you can talk about your country’s commercials too.
