I have enough skin oil in my scalp that when I finished shaving my head would have a high-gloss sheen to it. I had people asking me if I waxed my head!
I’ll chime in and agree with most of what has been said.
I use a Gillette razor in the shower. I usually soap up my scalp first, then apply the shave gel and let it “soak in” for a minute or two before starting the shave. I go with the grain first, then re-apply the gel and shave against the grain.
I bought a headblade recently for a test run–and I’m not impressed at all! Hard to maneuver over different parts of your head, as you need to switch hands to reach the opposite side of your head. You also have to turn it around to shave against the grain–so it just ends up being more work than using a regular razor. I see no benefit to it at all.
Definitely wouldn’t pay anyone to shave though.
Ok, good to know, shiny is good. I hope you guys are using sunscreen. You know there are some nice moisturizers with SPF available. Heed your head. Nothing, short of a combover, quite as unattractive as a baldy with red, peeling pate.
So, here’s a twist for you [affectionate tone in use] cueballs. What do you think of bald women? I have always wanted to shave off all my hair and start all over, but I’ve never gotten up the courage to do it.
Are you going to post pictures?
I mean, pictures of your shaved head!
You’re preaching to the choir. That’s the kind of mistake you make only once. And having been to a nude beach, I fully aware of the concept of full coverage. (Not from personal experience, but I saw a few people whose nooks and crannies made them look like monkies in estrus.
I think it can look quite stunning.
Sure, once I work up the courage to actually go through with it. My social life is pretty active these days, and I am loth to go out on, say, a date or a Dopefest looking like I lost a knife fight.
I like bald women just fine. As with men, some will look fantastic and some will look awful, most will fall somewhere in between. Google bald women or search youtube and you will see there is a lot of appreciation out there for bald women.
That’s one search I’ll be sure to turn on ‘Safe Search’ for. :o
I’ve been shaving the noggin for 12 years now. Three times a week in the shower. No mirror and just bar soap. I’m a bit old-fashioned - I only use a three blade Gillette razor. I found that after a couple of times you figure out your head contours pretty quickly.
The only problem I ever have is right behind my right ear. I have a small, raised skin blemish that, once or twice a year, I forget about and shave off. It is, apparently, a permanent part of my anatomy because it grows back everytime!
Since I started, I don’t think that I’ve ever let it go for more than about five days or so. On the few occasions that I do have a five-day shadow I just pop in a new razor and take a little extra time.
I do have to say, though, get an honest opinion on what you look like. I’ve seen some guys that have really crappy looking heads once all the hair is off.
