I shaved my head today. Feels weird.

Well, I didn’t. The barber did. But it is done, and I have gone from being a mop-top to weirdly bony on top. But it is my birthday, so there.

Happy birthday, egghead!

Thanks! It’s not perfectly done since I’m not balding, but it’s nice. My mom will have a conniption, though.

Happy birthday, fellow skinner!

Remember your sunblock.

I’ve thought about something like this for awhile. I’ve already got a start on the top, thanks to Mother Nature and my dad.

Any problems so far? Cold, sunburn, odd warts and such you didn’t know you had under the hair? Do you plan to keep your head shaved, or was this a lark?

Oh, and happy birthday!!! I’d have asked for a new kayak for my birthday, but to each his own…

I’m jealous. I have always wanted to shave my head (keeping my beard) but my wife won’t let me. I have very thick hair with no trace of balding, so she says it would be a waste of good follicles.

Yeah, I had thick hair as well, but it’s one of those things I’ve always wondered about, so I figured what the hell. Not a big mark on the bucket list, but a fun one. I might keep it, depends on the reaction. Some guys can pull it off, some can’t.

A friend did this once without consulting his wife. He then went straight from the barber shop to some social function held in the office where she worked. She walked out of her office and spotted him, turned around and went back in. A minute later, she looked out at him, and disappeared again. It took a couple of minutes before she could come out and say, “What in HELL have you done to your head?!?!”

Moisturize, use copious amounts of sunblock, and shave in the shower.

Electric or regular razor?

I must disagree with this.

I shower first, just to get my head wet. Then I shave in front of the mirror. Why, I’m not sure. I got by feel rather than look. Then I shower again.

The parts in front of my ears, just above the tragus, are problem areas for me. So is the crease just above the top of my spine. If I don’t concentrate on those, I’ll be doing some repair work hours later.

I’ve been tempted to shave my head, but can’t quite bring myself to do it; I know I’ve got at least one weird bony bump just above the hairline and I’m worried just what other oddness I’d be bringing to light until it finally grows back out.

Fusion razor. 5 blades sounds stupid, but to me, the razor gives a much smoother and closer shave with less nicks and cuts. I have a no-fog mirror in the shower stall, so I can shave while the hot water drives away last night’s bourbon.

I agree on the 5. I’ve been shaving my head for a year now. I really like BaldGuyz shaving gel. It is clear.

I shaved my head last night. Feels…well, like it does every couple of weeks when I shave it.

Actually, “buzz” it is a more accurate description. I’ve never razored it down to the skin, just used an electric trimmer on the shortest setting – a little bit of stubble. Still, I like it and life is so much easier this way.

I wish I could shave my head, but my husband whines when I mention wanting to just cut my damn hair. I envy you guys.

Happy Birthday Love Rhombus!

I’ve considered shaving my head, but I’m afraid of scaring small children. I have a strange flat spot on the back, like where a yarmulke would go if I was Jewish, and think I’d look sort of like Sloth from The Goonies.

Once again, I must disagree. I have a fancy 3-bladed cartridge razor that I use on my face. But it’s horrible on my head. For that I use a cheap 2-bladed disposable. After some experimentation, I found that that works best for me.

Expect people to want to rub your head. It’s rather fun.
