Tell Me About Your Brahma Boots...

I just bought a pair of Brahma Boots (Model: Boss). They claim to be waterproof and contain 200 gram Thinsulate insulation. Does anyone know anything about these boots, in general? Are they really waterproof, or will they need additional treatment immediately? What about with use…should I expect to have to start treating with waterproofing leather treament sprays?

I need to know that these boots will hold up to some tough punishment while remaining comfortable. Thanks, Jinx!

I’ve got a pair of Brahma boots that I got maybe 5 years ago. They’re not even close to every-day wear for me. I just wear them when I’m going to be working or standing in snow for a long time.

They’re very warm, and have remained very waterproof with no treatments. They’re comfortable like US military combat boots, but the outsoles on mine are really hard. This makes them a little less “grippy” than they ought to be on ice and wet pavement, but not too bad. If they had a softer, more rubbery, and less plasticky sole, they would be a lot better.

But I like them, and they’ve provided a lot of faithful service. $40 or $50 at Wal-Mart back in the day…not a bad value.
