Go into detail with you? Probably not. (And I think that’s a mistake, but it’s a common one, especially with older doctors; paternalistic medicine - fah!) But when your nurse calls her, she often gets a thoughtful and, yes, personalized response relevant to the patient’s history and current condition. The doctor is thinking a lot more than he is saying to the patient.
Believe me, I’m not a huge fan of most doctors. Some of them are jaded, many of them are arrogant, and 98% of them could use another semester studying how to talk to patients so they actually understand stuff. But very few of them are actually as cavalier as you suggest, in my experiences working with them.
