Krogers, Meijers, then Sam’s Warehouse. I want selection, cashiers, and a bagger. I don’t want lounge chairs, and self serve checkout. I don’t go to Builder’s Square looking for fresh mint, Belgian endives or ginger root.
No. Bulk items at Sams Club. Misc at Meijers. I did buy oil the other day at Krogers in an emergency. I go to a grocery store for groceries. I specifically want a greater selection of groceries versus a catch-all poor selection of non-grocery items taking up space.

Guessing $75? I cook in bulk to freeze so it varies.
1. Do you (attempt) to do all of your grocery buying in one trip for the week (or month)? If not, how often do you go?
I go once every few weeks. Never more than once a week, unless I need something special.
2. Do you have a favorite store or stores?
Usually I check to see what is on sale at the discount grocery store across the street from me. Otherwise I just go to a 24 hour grocery store. I prefer to shop at like 3 in the morning. No one else is there, and I like to wander aimlessly in the store. It’s nothing for me to spend close to 2 or 3 hours in the store buying a week’s worth of groceries, walking from one end of the store to the other several times.
3. Do you purchase other household items, such as cleaning supplies and lightbulbs, at the grocery store?
Usually I get them at Target, unless I know I need something while I’m at the grocery store. Targer is usually cheaper for things like soaps and toilet paper.
**4. How many people are you shopping for? **
Just me. 5. About how much does that work out per person, per week?
1. Do you (attempt) to do all of your grocery buying in one trip for the week (or month)? If not, how often do you go?
I buy meat, vegetables, fruit and my husband’s fancy coffee beans at the market about three times a week. I go to the grocery store once every month for non-perishables.
2. Do you have a favorite store or stores?
The market for fresh stuff, Aldi and Safeway for groceries. I also like to go to my local Asian grocer to pick up stuff.
**3. Do you purchase other household items, such as cleaning supplies and lightbulbs, at the grocery store?
**Yes it’s very common here.
4. How many people are you shopping for?
Two people - me and my husband.
5. About how much does that work out per person, per week?
About $50-60 per person per week. I cook everything from scratch but I like to experiment with meals and it costs a bit to keep my husband in coffee and beer. To give you an idea of what we eat, this was last week’s menu:
Saturday - spaghetti bolognaise with garlic bread
Sunday - chinese spare ribs with chicken rice and choy sum
Monday - sausage rolls with watermelon salad
Tuesday - green bean and smoked chicken salad
Wednesday - lamb cutlets with watermelon salad
Thursday - chinese spare ribs with chicken rice and choy sum
Friday - BBQ salmon fillets with potato salad and capsicum salad
Usually my husband takes leftovers or sandwiches to work but once a fortnight or so he’ll buy his lunch. Neither of us eats breakfast except occasionally some toast, pikelets or bacon and eggs on the weekend.
