Golf can be a big boost for a career. you can get out with other workers, bosses, and customers.
Go to the range. Hit balls with focus. It is not about how fast you can hit them. Work on hitting them straight and go after the ball. Hit them hard. When you are able to hit them consistently then go plug a course.
Incidentally…I really want to assure you guys that golf will have no impact on my career. I give away tax money. Ergo, my clients already suck up to me. I don’t need to learn golf to earn the respeck because I already control their access to your dollah dollah bills.
OTOH I tend to date a lot of investment bankers so maybe I can multi-task dating and my hobbies.
Yeah, one of the many crazy truisms of golf is “swing it easy to hit it far.”
It really is way more timing and rhythm than strength.
I REALLY don’t feel like getting any work done today! Here is another major golf store’s offerings in women’s clothes. I strongly recommend picking things you feel you might wear off the course as well. Heck, if you decide you don’t like the sport, no reason to have a bunch of clothes you won’t wear anywhere else. All of my golf shirts are things I could wear to work, on social occasions, or hanging around the house. And none of my shorts or pants are “golf-specific.”
I do have 2 pair of golf shoes, because I often play 2 days in a row, and it is a good idea to let one pair rest a day before wearing them again. What I do is simply buy 1 new pair every year, and toss the oldest pair. But I play quite a bit of golf. Shoe trees are also a good investment.
In golf, the lower your score, the better your game. Thus you will never be as good as you were before you started.

Shodan
There’s this - you’ll often be the only woman on the course.
The bad news is, you can see their guts under their golf shirts and it’s kind of a turn off. I don’t know where the fine-and-studlies play, but it’s never near me.
Hell, you and anu gotta stop by Chi and play a round with me and my #1 partner Mr. Tommy Gunne, possessors of a couple of the flattest bellies you’re likely to see on just about any two guys with half our cumulative 94 years!
Thought of another thing. I’m a BIG fan of walking whenever possible. Pretty much the ONLY times I ride is if a course has huge distances from one green to the next tee, or if it is a million degrees out. Many many reasons I’ll gladly expand upon if anyone cares, because IMO walking both makes the game more enjoyable, and improves your game.
I carried my bag up until 5 years ago when I started dragging it. If you carry, you will want a stand-bag, with little legs that pop out when you put it down. You also will want as light a bag as possible.
If you are dragging, you can rent a cart for just a couple bucks at just about every course I’ve ever been to. If you want your own, you can get a cheap one for as little as $30 or so. I’d probably recommend going up a notch from the cheapest and spending $50-60.
No, I definitely want to walk and carry the bag. I’m actually fairly fit and athletic.
Oh, no, I meant that since most the guys I tend to date seem to be into stuff like golf maybe it would be nice to have something like golf to share. Otherwise I’m really susceptible to being drawn into convos about MBS, which I actually have some experience in, but then people assume you understand words like derivatives and you have to spend the rest of the evening suffering excruciating finance-talk. I think I’d rather talk about golf since one of my favourite hobbies, cheesemaking, doesn’t seem to be in vogue amongst the banking set.
In another month or so, the Golf Channel will be starting up a new season of The Big Break, this time with women competing in Hawaii.
You might find it a fun watch.
