Tell me something about Macros in MSWord

I want to be able to toggle my text into and out of “subscript” mode with a keyboard shortcut, but there doesn’t seem to be any such shortcut available in Microsoft Word. I have this vague unverified notion that I can create such a shortcut myself by writing a macro.

Is this notion correct?

If so, how do I do it?

I’ve found there already is a macro called “subscript” which does exactly what I want it to do–except it’s not tied to a shortcut as far as I can tell! I have to go into the “tools” menu, go to “macros” then open up the ‘subcript’ macro and hit “run.” I’d rather do all this with alt-S or something.

Any help?

Thanks!

I’m using Word 2000, so if you’re using a different version the menus may differ a bit:

Go to Tools > Customize, and then when the dialogue box pops up click on the “Keyboard” button. From there, you can add or change keyboard shortcuts as you wish. FWIW, I already seem to have a keyboard shortcut for subscripting (Ctrl+=).

This is not a macro, by the way. You’re just changing the keyboard shortcuts.
