tell me what to eat

i’m getting sick of ham and cheese sandwiches, scrambled eggs, and cheese tortillas. i’ve eaten all i can of ramen and easy mac. ordering pizza is getting too expensive.

what else could i eat that’s fast and easy to make and fairly cheap?

bonus points on things that don’t rot too quickly in my fridge or anything with ranch (best condiment in the world).

radishes.

stir fry using pre-cut vegetables and stew stock meat (also precut)

buy lots of lettuce ( and other salad stuff), chop it all up at the same time and stick it in your fridge in a big container

regarding your other thread, something your mom doesn’t like.

pasta salad mixes, or make your own pasta salad

A Giant cheese log from GFS and a gallon of hot sauce, and some milk.

fruit smoothies

which would be how i eat right now

try this. it freezes real well and you can use it as a make-your-own pizza topping, have it over noodles, fill crescent rolls or phyllo dough, in pita bread, with mashed potatoes, on toast or whatever. Make a big batch and you’ll have it on hand for quick and easy meals.

1 ½ lbs ground beef or turkey. The leaner the better.
salt & pepper
brown ground beef and drain of excess fat. Remove from pan and season with salt & pepper

¼ sweet red pepper diced
1-2 hot red pepper diced fine
½ onion diced
1 tsp minced ginger, more to taste
1 tsp minced garlic, more to taste
brown the vegetables, garlic & ginger for a couple of minutes, until the onion is translucent. Add the meat back in and mix together. Allow to cook for 5 minutes and remove to bowl.

2 tsp dark soy sauce
2 tsp fish sauce
juice of 1-2 limes
¼ cup chopped fresh thai basil
add the above ingredients to the beef in the bowl and mix to blend together.

Can’t help you with the Ranch. But have you tried buying those boxes of straight noodles called ‘pasta’ and those red jars called ‘Ragu’? Boil the pasta for 10 minutes, then pour out the water. Drop the pasta on a plate. Pour the ‘Ragu’ that you’ve been heating over the pasta.

Eat what you can, put the rest in a covered bowl & nuke it up as dinner tomorrow.

EASY POT ROAST:

get a crock pot

put in a frozen roast

put in a packet of onion soup mix

cook overnight on low

throw in some canned peeled potatoes (you can get these in the canned veggie aisle) about half an hour before you want to eat.

Turn to high.

eat in about half an hour, then put the leftovers in the fridge and re-heat as needed.

Stir-fry:

Buy frozen stir-fry veggies. Buy some chicken tenders. Cut the chicken into bite size pieces. Saute the chicken, add the veggies—stir around until they are hot. Add soy sauce to taste.

Burritos - can use pretty much whatever you have on hand, in terms of veggies, meat, sour cream, salsa, etc. Heat, and wrap in a tortilla.

Frozen Freschetta and DiGiorno pizzas are pretty good. Spice them up with pesto, olives, chopped garlic (the kind that comes in jars), and fresh onions, tomatoes, and bell pepper slices.

Buy cans of black beans and add them to your cheese and tortillas - black bean quesadillas

Get a George Foreman grill to easily cook pork chops, chicken breasts, fish, and thin steaks. Then get a rice steamer to steam rice or veggies (with a veggie insert). Easy to make a healthy dinner in 10-15 minutes.

Psst! Try dipping the pizza in the ranch dressing. Trust me!

(Ranch is also good on spaghetti)

Pasta and macaroni and cheese are staples of my diet. For variety, try some frozen chicken nuggets and French fries (assuming you have an oven)

that’s what got me on my ranch obsession. i make everyone try this.

damn this board. i need to have a 20 page paper written in the next twelve hours… why am i still here?

I, being a poor college student tend to stock up my fridge with stuff like fruit, yogurt, cereal…the occasional pop tarts (everyone has their guilty pleasures). But the way i see it is that it’s best to buy a bunch of little stuff so you always have something to munch on.

Beef stew in less than five minutes.

Take a can of Hormel (I think it tastes better than the other brands) Roast Beef (~$2.10) and empty into a microwave safe bowl. It includes gravy.

Nuke on high for two minutes while you open and drain a can of (I prefer Veg•all) mixed vegetables. Stir in the vegetable and throw in a half dozen or so mashed up cocktail onions. Nuke on high for another two minutes.

Season with whatever you like (I use cayenne pepper sauce) and munch din-din. You’ll wind up with enough gravy left over to saturate a piece of bread.

Quick, easy, probably decently nourishing and yummy for ~$3.00. And you’ve got one bowl and one spoon to wash.

Bon appétit!

Rub some oil on a boneless skinless chicken breast then sprinkle salt and pepper over it. Wrap the chicken with three or four slices of bacon. Barbecue on top grill or bake in a 350°F oven on wire rack for 45 minutes or when juices run clear. Let rest for three minutes after removing from oven. Harf down with white wine or beer.
