OK, I got permission from all the appropriate Powers That Be to post this, so here goes.
As some of you may have seen in my signature the last few weeks, I’ve started a video game site called The Video Game Librarian (http://www.videogamelibrarian.com/). That’s right, I check the site stats every day and a lot of people visit it from the Dope (thanks guys).
The site covers game news, but (as the title says) it also covers information that would be useful to librarians who purcahse games for a collection or who put on video game-based programs.
But now I was curious if anyone had any actual suggestions on how I could make it better or if it just sucks completely.
I think the parenthesis screwed up your link! I got a “not found” page until i manually editted them out. Do you want me to report it to a mod so they can fix it?
Since Madden is one of the two games I buy each year, I am glad to have learned from your site that Favre is going to be on the cover. You taught me something, so I think I have to give your site a thumbs up.
One thing your site might benefit from is a browsing index that you can sort by system/genre/developer/date. I know you have a search function already, but the feature I’m describing is one of the reasons I like gamefaqs so much. If I wanted to check out a list of SNES rpg titles to see the games from my childhood I could use gamefaqs to do it, but not your site.
Each article has tags for what systems it relates to at the bottom. Click on the system you’re looking for and it’ll bring up only articles related to that system.
I’ll second Mosier’s suggestion. I’m a PC gamer. There aren’t any posts about PC games on the front page, so I have to go searching through the older posts just to find the “PC” tag.
