Tell us an interesting random fact you stumbled across (Part 1)

You could also have clocks for Puntarenas, Managua, Oaxaca, and on up to Winnipeg and even Resolute Bay (“home to an Inuit hamlet, one of Canada’s northernmost communities”).

His name was Max Born. He was one of the big ones.

During the course of an average life your body makes two light years worth of protein.

The equation dude? TIL.

Calling a “physicist and mathematician” “the equation dude” is funny. Aren’t they all? But yes, he’s the one I meant, if you are not confusing him with Niels Bohr, the Dane who, it could be argued, was an even bigger name in physics.

I’m not sure how to measure protein in light years. Do they straighten the proteins out and lay them end to end?

No, I recognized Max Born from quantum mechanics. Olivia Newton-John was a teen crush and is even cooler with Max Born in her family tree.

That is nice, glad to read. Max Born’s family tree is fantastic.

Almost certainly not. He hasn’t been seen in public in decades, and a passing uncorroborated line in the article doesn’t sound very convincing.

AKA The Model Dude

Carolyn Bryant, whose actions set off the lynching of Emmitt Till will not be charge or arrested, despite the warrant that recently came to light.

Seems she got away with it.

Oh probably. I haven’t tried it myself.

That’s more a tribute to how thin protein molecules are than the quantity we make.

I disagree.

The Marquis de Lafayette was only 19 when he arrived in the Colonies to help Washington.

It was a young person’s game. Alexander Hamilton was only 20 when he went to work for Washington.

And Washington was 45 at that time. Old enough to be Hamilton’s father, but not old by any stretch.

I like this idea. I used to set my PC clock to “Costa Rica” time zone but the IT guy in the office kept resetting it for me to “Chicago”. I asked him why. He claimed that was the default he was required use for our PCs. He was surprised they were the same time zone. Oy vey!

Don’t you mean “Ay, caramba!” ?

Like the Irish, you will find people of Jewish descent everywhere.
