The best parting comment I heard, in a movie, the Mitchum character gets up, puts on his jacket and says to the bartender, “I’ll see you all of a sudden, Sam.”
Today, I stumbled across:
Into the Jungle! A Boy’s Comic Strip History of World War II
TIL Jimi Hendrix’s hair style was inspired by Bob Dylan’s afro on the cover of Blonde on Blonde.
So you’re saying the Jewfro predates the Afro?
During WW2, four brothers from the same family, joined up to fight Nazis. Only one returned.
His grandson is today President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
Only man to ever eat plutonium?
But still lived to be 87, amazingly.
Likely not to come as a surprise to some of you, but ISO doesn’t stand for International Standards/Standardization Organization. The official name is International Organization for Standardization, which, if you’re paying attention, doesn’t seem to fit the organization’s actual name of ISO. The latter name was chosen by its founders in reference to the Greek word isos, which means equal, so that the same name can be used in any language. What a wild and coherent bunch they are.
TIL there was a small chain of drive-in restaurants in Texas which provided in-car air conditioning.
Morocco is the only primarily-Muslim country, and the only country not in Europe, East Asia, or North America, to have a national pavilion at Epcot. Hassan II sent Moroccan artisans to help design and build the pavilion, and it was the only Epcot pavilion actively sponsored by the host country’s government until 2020 when Disney took ownership of the pavilion.
Most of the bones in your body are in your hands and your feet. Unless you are pregnant. In that case most of the bones in your body could be in your uterus.
There are no natural lakes in Maryland.
I used to have this a long time ago and the first time I heard it I was absolutely floored for the same reason.
Actually, in that case, you are carrying around someone else’s body and, technically, the bones are within its body. Not that any body cares.
Or recently eaten a bunch of sardines?
“Your bones” and “the bones in your body” are not synonymous.
Yes, would only apply to human bones. Don’t know what the boniest animal you might eat would be but sardines would be up there.
It’s also been said that Ohio has no natural lakes. (Well, other than Lake Erie. But it is not entirely within Ohio.) However, I know that Ohio has a number of kettle lakes. Have always wondered if they “count.”
It might depend on size.
I did find a [thread elsewhere](Ohio's 7 natural lakes | Ohio Game Fishing) discussing Ohio’s very few natural lakes.
Apparently there’s a minimum size for a natural lake to distinguish them from ponds. According to one source the minimum is 20 acres but I’m not sure that’s the number used in the case of Maryland.
