I wouldn’t count them because it they were billed as Sr. and Jr.
There have been at least 45 sequels to “The Amityville Horror” movie, including four new ones coming out this year. Forty-five!
I think I remember Art Linkletter (50’s-60’s TV host) saying it as Loss ANG uh leez.
I think part of what’s ironic about BR’s swordfighting tally is that he was in fact probably the best fencer in movies. He was a two-time British Army Fencing Champion.
Does skilled fencing translate into a realistic portrayal of actual combat? I think I read once that Oliver Reed came closest to what a real sword fight would look like.
And the related question, does realistic portrayal of actual combat make for a good movie?
I’ve heard that the actual most realistic sword duel in movies is the one at the start of The Count of Monte Cristo, where the two dudes draw, the more experienced one immediately skewers the other, and the less experienced one dies. Which is fine for a one-off scene to show that he’s a Bad Dude, but isn’t too engaging beyond that.
In The Three/Four Musketeers, most definitely. Every weapon at hand.
The others weren’t slouches in that regard either. As I said elsewhere/when, a real swordfight didn’t mean witty repartee and elegant moves; it meant using every tactic (fair and otherwise) that would get it over with quickly and allow one to leave with all vital body parts intact, unlike the other guy.
And I believe this analysis of the last sword fight in Macbeth, by Polanski: this is a really well made scene. For me those were eleven well spent minutes in YouTube.
I believe MAD Magazine once had a “Scenes We’d Like To See” where the swashbuckling hero with a sword challenges the villain who is “the greatest swordsman in France”. Who promptly shows it’s true by skewering the hero.
Here’s Shelley Berman (doing an impression of an airline pilot) also saying it that way.
Youtube. I visit TikTok very rarely, only when absolutely necessary.
I recently learned about balloon syndrome, a malady that can affect hedgehogs. Poor little critters!
Less than a year before John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincolm, his elder brother Edwin Booth rescued Lincoln’s son, Robert Todd Lincoln, from being hit by a train.
TIL that pack rats aren’t just people who have a lot of stuff
Since the link server insists on screwing this up, its the wiki for the animal called a pack rat
Haha. Yeah. We have them around here. They make little piles of stuff. My wife and I each wondered about each other why the spouse made a little pile of twigs and flower petals on our deck.
Never said anything until curiosity got the better of us. That’s when we figured out there was a pack rat on our property.
"Angels on a pinhead’ time:
They are absolutely foul beasts. I’ve had to clean out a couple nests–unlike the old saying, they do indeed shit where they live, and piss all over everything, as well as accumulating all the requisite gew gaws and food. Do not recommend.
And another one: we glow
Oh, goodie. Cue a revival of supposedly seeing so-called auras.
