The wooden escalators are still there. I saw them a year ago, and here’s a video from January. There’s also a Facebook post on them from last month but my phone won’t let me copy the link.

In Santa Barbara we have the Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden. Named for Alice Keck Park.
And German chocolate cake doesn’t come from Germany; it was named for someone named German.
The Holland tunnel connecting New Jersey to New York City is named after engineer Clifford Holland who was the chief engineer during design and construction and passed away shortly before its opening. Nothing to do with Holland the country.
Bone china does not contain the bones of Chinese people, nor does it have anything to do with that country, although India ink is from China.
Panama hats are from Ecuador
Belgian fries are from France.
Space Force does most of its work Not In Space.
American cheese is, however, American, and is called that by Americans. To my knowledge, it’s the only food named after a country for which that’s the case.

Welsh cakes are called Welsh cakes by Welsh people in Wales (when speaking English, anyway).
Belgians dispute this. But it can be argued that Belgium did not exist back then when potatos were first fried. The battle of Waterloo took place in the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, but the town of Waterloo today is in Belgium, close to Brussels. So, depending on how you see it, perhaps Belgian fries are from the Netherlands.
