Absolutely epic confluence between content and user name - congrats!
How about an interesting random link I just stumbled across?
from our large collection of over 300 puns
That’s not a large collection. I expect most people here will have heard
them all. (probably here !)
A related, less random fact:
The traditional “bubble gum” flavor is actually an attempt to recreate a banana’s flavor, but is exponentially sweeter.
You can test this yourself by adding a spoonful of sugar to a slice of banana. It will taste like bubblegum.
I once entered 10 puns into a contest hoping one would win, but no pun in ten did.
I so want this to be true. I have a banana at home, I will try it tonight.
Banana flavored bubblegum, that is.
Andy Griffith’s son Sam was arrested for CDV in 1992 after beating his two-months pregnant wife so badly that she miscarried. He died at 37 four years later after years of chronic alcoholism.
He was an adopted son.
I can taste the Gold Dragon now, mmmm.
Eh. . . so?
The U.S. Mint has never issued a ‘penny’. The official name is ‘cent’ or ‘one-cent coin’.
The name ‘cent’ for 1/100th of a dollar was created by Founding Father Gouverneur Morris, who is perhaps more famous for writing the Preamble to the Constitution (We the People…) But he didn’t set it to music. That was later.
I feel bad for a guy who suffered from canine distemper virus.
Imagine competing with Ron Howard for your Dad’s fatherly affection.
I’m out west… still at work.
Right!?
Why did you feel it was important to add that?
Sooo, what’s the origin of “penny”? Come on, man, don’t leave us hanging!
:~)
I didn’t infer it was important, but the thread title is “interesting random facts”. Just piggybacking off of your post.
When he saw the first one come off the stamping machine, Gouverneur Morris said, “That looks like my daughter, Penny!”
jk
oops, wrong thread
