Today I got a 2-CD game OST. It was factory sealed and the first disc plays okay, but the second one just will not co-operate (so far it’s worked once). Most times I place it in my laptop’s DVD drive, the drive repeatedly makes the noise it does when I close the empty tray and then the drive starts whining in a way that could be described as ‘pained’. Eventually it gives up and everything goes quiet. When I try to access the D: drive manually, it tells me that either the disc is corrupted or is in a format incompatible with Windows.
Right this second it’s working for the second time (I just kept trying until the drive made the right noise) and I’m transferring the files onto my computer with an eye to copying them to CD, so all is not lost.
I’d still like to know what the problem is, however, as I don’t know whether I should be concerned about this.
