I think I used a little less liquid than I should have in the rice I made. It was OK, but a while later after putting it in the fridge, I was wondering if I could heat it up in the oven with a little broth so I can absorb the liquid (in effect recooking the rice). Will this work?
You’ll end up with mushier-than-normal rce, but yeah.
You could do that.
What I do to freshen up rice that’s been in the fridge and dried out a bit, is put it in a fine-mesh colander/strainer and steam it over a pot of boiling water. Not sure if that would work with rice that was originally undercooked.
Or you could put it into a pot of boiling water for a few minutes, then put it into a colander to drain off the excess water.
Rice is cheap. Seems like a lot of trouble when you could just make more rice and cook it properly. Unless we’re talking about a huge quantity here.
Make fried rice.
Dump a serving of rice into a bowl and lid with a plate on top. Nuke. If the rice’s too old, add – literally – a few drops of water.
This results in fairly revitalized rice, IME.
There are also microwave rice steamers that can cook/reheat rice nicely, but my method of bowl + plate seems to work well enough that I’m not really interested in buying another kitchen gadget.
Well, Condaleeza like reds, so I’d start with a bottle of good shiraz with dinner. A cocktail later in the evening, and an egg-white omlette in the morning if you get lucky.
Thread over, only good idea so far.
