And Murray holds easily for 5-5.
5-5 second set: I’m calling this; the only way Fed can win is with a rain/roof break.
Piss off rain! shakes fist at the sky
Awesome use of the net by Murray there to get to Deuce
Damn you Federer!
Fed wins second set.
That was an awesome point, and it ended with a perfect backhand slice drop shot. Federer gets the break and wins the second set 7-5!
My god, those rallies.
Well, fuck it. I could have got $1.96 about Federer winning and I agonised over dropping $100 on him. He wins the set and is into $1.50 now. Meh.
I think the next question is this: can Federer continue to improve and take a lead, having taken Murray’s best punch? Or can Murray shake off a difficult moment, knowing he’s played better so far but the match is tied?
Murray vs. Federer for the finals at Wimbledon? The 1990s called, they want their men’s finals back!
… NM
I’m guessing we will have a rain delay after this game. EDIT: Nope, the rain starts coming down and they pause the match at 1-1, 40-0 for Federer.
So: Connors vs. Krickstein. Who do you think will win this time?
I’m just kidding, of course. Airing Connors-Krickstein again would be ridiculous. ESPN is showing a short documentary on Murray that talks a lot about the famous massacre that happened at his elementary school when he was about 9 years old. Good times, good times.
Are they closing the roof? I’m away from tv.
Yes, the roof is closed and the players are warming up.
After a 40-minute rain delay, Federer wins one short point to finish the third game and then the players sit down for a changeover. Makes sense to me. Murray now serving at 1-2. In the semis the commentators felt the closed roof helped Federer somewhat because the ball moved through the court a little faster, assisting his offense. We’ll see if that holds true here also. I think it might.
Murray holds serve for 2-all.
Boris Becker suggesting Murray needs to “electrocute” the crowd a little; doesn’t sound so good in a German accent.
I’m worried Murray is starting to mope a bit. Hopefully it’s a temporary thing (kinda depends if Fed breaks him here).
Federer is crushing the ball here. In particular he’s taking advantage of the fact that Murray always goes to his backhand on second serve; he’s stepped around a bunch of those. Murray has saved two break points so far in this one.
Humongous game there. I think it lasted 26 points and 10 deuces. Federer finally gets the break for 4-2.
