That’s a fantastic story, Rosewall comes across as a real gentleman.
keep making the same prediction
So this makes me angry every time I watch it. I know this kid is only 17, but how do you take a swing like this without considering where the ball is going to go? I’ve been plenty frustrated with myself while playing tennis (and I’m certainly no elite athlete), but I don’t think I’ve ever come close to losing my mind to this degree.

Meanwhile, at a Federation Cup tie in Honolulu between USA and Germany, somebody sings the German anthem - with the Nazi-era lyrics.
Serena is apparently pregnant. I’m sure there will be speculation about her retiring at this point, but I don’t see it. She’s going to want to prove she can come back and still dominate.
At any rate, congrats to her!
I’ll take postpartum Serena versus the field.
I’m pretty sure her kid can ALREADY take me.
I mean, it already has more majors than both of us, put together.
Roger Federer is going to skip the French Open.
His press statement, to me, sounds like he may never play the clay season again, at least not fully. He wants to play for more years and I think the clay takes more out of him. I think he wants to win Wimbledon at least one more time.
As an amateur who has spent very little time playing on clay (and hates it, frankly), can you explain what it is about clay that takes more out of players? I’m ignorant.
Clay is the slowest surface. You can’t get a winner past the other guy easily - so the rallies take longer. Although the difference is a lot less than it used to be.
There is also the fact that you can slide into position to hit a ball back which gives your opponent a little extra time and reach which also makes it more difficult to get a winner past someone.
Agreed on all counts. Sensible decision. It’s very unlikely he could win the French again, I think he’s already the GOAT so he’s happy to give up the ‘GOAT on clay’ to Rafa, especially if it increases his changes of winning another Wimbledon.
Djokovic just flamed out, losing 6-0 in the third set.
I hate to say it, but he may be losing his edge and starting the gradual decline that happens to everyone. He needs to talk to Federer about how to maintain his career into his 30’s. It’s tough.
Thinking that Djokovic is having the same kind of mental troubles Nadal has had in the past. Don’t know if Aggassi is going to help much.
Well, he hates tennis according to his book, so why does he even bother?
:still mad at Agassi for saying that:
Good women’s final!
Dichotomy in their style of play
Ostapenko had 54 Winners and 54 Unforced Errors
Halep had 8 winners and 10 Unforced Errors.
Ostapenko was fun to watch today. If she keeps her head on straight, she will be a handful at Wimbledon and the US Open.
Sharapova won’t be playing grass season. Thigh injury.
Meanhoo in some very trivial and unimportant news, Rafael Nadal wins his 10th French Open.
