I watched the first set and a bit more of Tiafoe and Shelton. Both of those guys move so well!
Is it me, or were they doing more drop shots, net shots, and other more interesting plays than Djoker’s stay-at-the-baseline yawn fest?
Ooh, so close to an all-American women’s final. Madison Keys won the first set 6-0 and then lost the next two in tie-breakers! It’s like losing a race by 1/100 of a second.

Ben Shelton was listed as a 26% likely chance to win with Novak having 74%.
Now, listen, I’m pulling for Ben Shelton and love the story and will be fist-pumping like crazy when he wins…but I think his odds are lower than 26%.
It’s hard for me to get my brain around those kinds of percentages, but doesn’t he play similar to Alcaraz (who beat Djoker)?
I don’t know about playstyle, but he is not up there with Alcaraz. Tennis right now is:
Novak, Carlos, and Nadal(if Nadal is every back to full health).
After those three, almost everyone is significantly less good. People do beat them, of course, but they are very strong. Even Carlos is just beginning his greatness and we’ll see if has health enough to stay at the top of the game for 15+ years like Novak, Roger, and Nadal.
As an aside, does anyone know what is going on with Nadal? Is…is…he never going to be back properly again? Sad, if true. I hope he can win at least one more French and possibly another Grand Slam.
I will also add that they just mention Ben Shelton is the 8th highest ranked American. Carlos Alcaraz is #1 in the world, more or less interchangeable with Novak.
Too early to call it, but Medvedev is destroying Carlos Alcaraz in the second set, having one the first one in a tie break.
Medvedev played terrific and he he is in the final. He beat Novak two years ago in the final, so he definitely has a real shot.
I’m really not sure who to root for here, the guy who lied about his vaccination status or the guy whose country is bombing schools and hospitals. I guess I’ll just look away and watch the women instead.
Did Novak said he got Vaxxed? I thought he was adamant that he wasn’t going to get jabbed. and he missed out on the 2022 Aussie and US Opens because he did not get the shot.
I saw the last two sets of the Alcaraz - Medvedev match. What a great show by both of them. I was thinking that Carlos would start cramping like he did a couple weeks ago when he lost to Novak, and that was a best of three sets.
Yeah, I guess he just lied about having tested positive before doing a interview and photo shoot, and submitted false docs to the Australian authorities.

Gauff lost the first set big time, but is up one break in the second set. I’d love to see an American win, especially someone so young.

Coco Gauff wins the US Open. Terrific, just a great win. She totally killed it in the second and third set. I thought she might bagel her in the third set there.
