The song by the Eagles, or the drink - which first used the name “Tequila Sunrise?”
According to the thing in the booklet that came with my Very Best of the Eagles CD, they were leery about using that title, because the drink had become pretty popular by that point, and were concerned that people would think it was about the drink (If I remember correctly, it was supposed to be more about the feeling of seeing the sunrise after spending a lonely night drinking tequila).
So, drink, then song, but the song is not about the drink.
