Teresa Heinz Kerry implies being a teacher is not a real job ?

Add me to those that didn’t know…

Well, all that is wrong with the Latex Division of the SDMB anyway.

Or it would if anybody was going to pay attention to this.

Although I would agree that this is a non-story, it does seem fairly clear from her statement that she is implying that Mrs. Bush has never held a job. She compares their “experience and validation” and says that they come from different things. I take this difference to be having held a job. She also says that because she is older and has had different experiences, her validation is bigger. Again, I consider the “different experiences” to equate to employment.

I found her statement as posted above to be condescending, stupid and illogical. Still, she didn’t say what you said she did and, as mentioned, what she did say was of absolutely no consequence.

This comes out of the mouth of someone whose claim to fame is
marrying into a billion dollar empire?

What real job did she ever have? Kneepad tester?

Is there some problem with me disliking the idea that a woman’s a ‘grown up’ after she gets married and has kids?

No, I just think it’s a non-issue.

Running a multimillion dollar charitable foundation isn’t a real job? Maybe we need a thread to determine what the fuck a real job is.

THK

This is from John Kerry’s website but I have no indication that it isn’t accurate. No word on what her responsibilities were with the UN or what if any jobs she held during her marriage to Senator Heinz.

Your characterization of her as a woman who blew her way into a fortune is vulgar and without basis. Asshole.

Couldn’t we have some sort of rule about misleading thread titles? I’m really getting fucking SICK of this shit.

No problem at all. Please be good enough to refrain from attributing it to Mrs. Heinz-Kerry until more evidence shows that she subscribes to it.

Not that you have attributed it to her. I’m just trying to forestall any more ugliness arising from a foundation of pure speculation.

I think this whole thread is a non-issue.

I’m pretty damned informed on this election and I have no idea what Laura Bush’s biography is. I had no idea she had been either a librarian or a teacher, nor did I particularly care. It may have been publicized, but that doesn’t mean I paid attention to that drek.

As for the “grown up” comment, I think she was referring actually to grown up and discounting a teenage summer job or something. She was probably under the impression, as was I, that Laura Bush married George right after college and became a housewife/country club.

This is just another chicken-shit non-issue you people on the right love to get agitated about. As anybody who actually read the whole quote could tell, Teresa Heinz Kerry pled ignorance about Laura Bush’s occupational history. She wasn’t trying to run down teachers or librarians as you insinuate. Besides, when was the last time Laura Bush cashed a paycheck as either a teacher or librarian?

Don’t you care about the issues?!

Yeah, me either.

I can’t say that I remember her job before either. I DO, however, remember her KILLING SOMEONE. I guess somethings stick in your memory more than others.

Goddamn it, I remember John Kerry killing someone too although, unlike Laura, he did it intentionally.

As with Laura, I think Kerry’s action is not an issue in this election.

Well, of course Kerry’s was in a war and was given directive and wasn’t a topic of this thread.

OTOH, Laura (Welch) Bush oddly enough didn’t even get jail time or even a ticket for her actions.

So, she ran a stop sign, which tends to be illegal, and then kills someone, which is usually illegal too in the US, and not even a ticket. You’re right. It’s not a topic for this election either. It should be a non-issue. But unfortunately, turd blossoms* like Kel Varnsen keep bringing this mularky up.

*Bush’s pet name for Karl Rove.

And by “this”, I mean the contents of the OP, not my subsequent diversions.

Holy moly, didn’t know about Ms. Bush killing her boyfriend! What are the chances of that happening, as described in the cite??? Makes one wonder…
