Short version: It’s a silly notion, because the Israelis have demonstrated - in word and very much in deed - that they’re staying. They obviously have different motivations, but the sacred places and their independence as a country are probably very high priorities. They will not move. You’ll have to plan around that.
Very good, Mr. Jones. Unfortunately you seem to have forgotten that raccoons are allergic to raisin bran.
The problem with your idea is that the very reason all these middle-east groups are fighting 'mongst themselves, is the very land they live on. It’s considered the Holy Land, and thus must be cleansed of and protected from the Infidels.
Except that each religious group views all others as “infidels”.
If these people wished, the Entire World is theirs as a “homeland”. Just as many Europeans and Americans do, they could choose to live anywhere. But they choose to live in The Holy Land, and defend it against the Infidels. The problem is not merely room to live or quality of life.
To answer your other questions, our policy towards Israel is not on the bargaining table, because that is precisely what the terrorists are after. We cannot cave to terrorist demands even if we wanted to.
Are we going to die? Yes, eventually. Because of Israel? Probably not. Statistcally you’re more likely to be bitten by a shark at the exact same time you’re struck by lightning, an asteroid and the camera boat for “Baywatch Under Cover: Petropavlovsk”.
And last, do you understand that Israel’s policy towards terrorists also antagonized them? Israel’s very existence antagonizes them?
As per Colin Powell’s press conference yesterday, this policy IS on the table. I don’t remember his exact words, but IIRC correctly this question was asked and he confirmed that changes were going to have to be made and that he had already spoken with Sharon about it.
“The Bush administration is also trying to persuade Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to agree to talks with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat to cool a nearly yearlong conflict that has killed more than 700 people – most of them Palestinian – and intensified anti-U.S. feelings throughout the Muslim world. Sharon has branded Arafat a terrorist and has compared him to bin Laden. But as a concession, he said he would agree to talks with the Palestinians if they halt attacks for 48 hours. He previously demanded a 7-day cease-fire as a precondition for negotiations.”
If Israel were moved into the United States, wouldn’t that just make it easier for the terrorists to focus all their attacks on the space inside the US border?
