Test thread for nested quotes

If you are able to use the Multi-Quote thingy as suggested by simster and Heffalump and Roo in Posts #8 and 12, that’s probably easiest. Or, go to each post that you want to quote, one at a time, and quote them. Either way, you have to then do some cutting-and-pasting to re-arrange the pieces and assemble all the parts into one multi-level quote. Sounds like Multi-Quote is the easier way, except for me because it doesn’t work in my browser.

Okay, I see what you’re missing: You’re thinking of cutting-and-pasting from the posts you want to quote and manually adding quote tags around them. That doesn’t get you the magic link-back numbers. What you need to do is:
[ul][li] Go to each post that you want to quote.[/li][li] One post at a time (or all at once if Multi-Quote works for you), click on the Quote button in that post.[/li][li] This opens the edit window, with the proper quote tags already there, including that magic link-back number.[/li][li] Copy the entire quote from this edit window, including the quote tags, and paste into the message that you are assembling.[/li][li] You need to get the nested pieces all in the right order, as I showed in the detailed example in Post #11. My example doesn’t show the magic link-back numbers, but you need to make sure you keep them when you do your cutting-and-pasting.[/li][/ul]
