Texas 7

I just heard on the news that the “Texas 7” escaped from prison by talking their way out!!

Stupid fucking guards left them alone because they wanted to wax the floor. Or maybe they were having a picnic. No Texas official will be straightforward about this. They then DROVE away in a prison truck loaded with ammo.

And now 29 yr old Officer Aubrey Hawkins is dead. Shot eleven times, six of those in the head, and then run over by the getaway car. On Christmas Eve! He was ambushed in the back of an Oshman’s sporting goods store.

What the hell is wrong with these prison guards? These guys are violent criminals!! Texas officials deny that the men were left alone. A maintenance supervisor was left with them. He was overpowered (big surprise, hm?!).
They stole his uniform so one prisoner could get into the watch tower. Of course the guard in the tower couldn’t be bothered to check his fucking ID!! So, he overpowers this guard and then opens the gate for his cohorts and they drive away to freedom.

So now these violent guys are on the loose, courtesy of the morons in charge of this Texas prison. They have a huge arsenal and tons of cash. Heads better roll in the Texas Dept of Criminal Justice and at that prison. These guys orchestrate a 2 and a half hour escape and noone notices?!?! Something is wrong here.

No shit.

I remember watching the news the morning after these guys broke out and CNN had this headline:

"Texas prison officials say 7 well armed escapees are “on a pretty dark mission” "

CRACK DETECTIVE WORK TEXAS…did you think they were breaking out to get to a Promise Keepers meeting?

HOW THE FUCK do seven guys bust out of prison with weapons? I’m frankly shocked.

The only people as dumb as prison guards are the prisoners.
The difference is the prisoners have an incentive and time to work on a plan. A dumb plan will fool a dumb guard who’s off guard.

When those guys were escaping it was a couple of hours between the time that they started assaulting and tying up guards and the time they drove away. In those two hours of them going around tying people up, no one else at the prison had any idea that anything was going on. At one point, someone who had been tied up by the escaping prisoners managed to set off a fire alarm. The person whose job it was to respond to the fire alarm just shut it off remotely and never even went to look to see what set it off. It’s a miracle they can keep anyone locked up at a place like that. The only reason all the prisoners haven’t escaped is probably that they’re even dumber than the guards.

Needless to say, the only thing these guys are going to be guarding in the future is their brown bagged beer from the other unemployed losers sitting in the park.

I lived in Texas for 20 years. (Thankfully, not any more.)

All I can say is, none of what I’ve heard about this whole debacle surprises me.

Here’s TDC’s Serious Incident Review (requires Adobe Acrobat).

OK, I’m really sorry about the policeman that got killed.
OTOH, this Texas 7 crap is the good entertainment. Like George Carlin said, “Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show”

thanks, labdude!

you get to be my next pit thread, you goat-felching[sup]TM[/sup] moron!

This is weird, tonight they were talking about how some of the Texas 7 were spotted in southern Texas, and they showed sketches of all 7 of them.

Why the sketches? Wouldn’t their mug shots be better?

Considering the fact that there are currently THOUSANDS of escaped convicts in all of America’s correctional facilities, and that the Texas 7 was the first set of escapees in over a year and a half, apperantly Texas is not so horrible.

WAG on my part, based on my years in the BIZ. Back in the early 90’s, the Michigan DOC got serious about tracking down escapees, putting out wanted posters etc. And they used the mug shots. Of course, the mug shots were taken at the time of the original arrest, and could have been several years old. The MICH DOC then started taking pictures of inmates of a regular basis for just such a contingency.

I suspect that the Texas DOC’s pictures may have been (if not real old) not very representative of how they look presently.

(threemae the concern here about the 7 centers around certain things, like their status -most escapees, I believe, escape from minimum security facilties, these did not, in addition, they were able to quickly get weapons from the prison these facts make the situation much more serious than the other thousands of walk aways)

Ok. The people who killed the cop are real abominable dirtbags. But what about the fire alarm that went ignored? Sounds like poetic justice to me! Some people who were sworn officers (I think corrections officers are sworn officers) and who were entrusted to protect the lives of their charges IGNORED AND RESET a FIRE alarm. In my opinion, thay are deserved of all the blame thay get.

When’s the movie due out?
