As to the case in question, I must admit that even after reading both articles and Bricker’s helpful explanations, I find it very confusing, but it does seem that the OP’s outrage may not have been quite deserved, or may have been misdirected. I think the headline and content of the Washington Post article are at fault in that regard (as Iggy observed).
My take away, though, is that there are in fact at least some few mean-spirited people who have gone out of their way to make a case for denying same-sex couples equal rights in Texas.
So, that element of the story at least is quite Pit-worthy.

He confessed to trolling, he just doesn’t realize that what he confessed to was trolling. He didn’t realize (or claims to not realize) that lying on purpose in a post to try and piss someone off is pretty much the purest definition of trolling.
