Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake

I didn’t see:

1)Any thread on this in search
OR
2)The first Texas Chainsaw Massacre

But I saw the preview of this when I went and saw Underworld. This may be interesting enough to see. Any thoughts? Also, any good links on the true story? All I get are cheesie little two paragraph synopsies.

Is Jessica Biel naked?

No idea  They normally don’t show nudity in theatre trailers :frowning:

It’s produced by Micheal Bay, who gave us Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, and Bad Boys 2 :frowning:

I hope it’s good though…

Oh dear. The original was a great film.

I suspect it is going to be the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Massacre.

Oh not to mention the director, Marcus Nispel has only directed two music videos (Janet Jackson and Faith no More.)

No actual movies…Hmm, makes you think doesn’t it.

The good thing is, it’s not a sequel. It’s a remake of the first TCM film. It’s also set in the 70’s…they didn’t try to ‘update’ it.

The trailer looks awesome. ( watch here ) -but don’t they always?

Uh, it’s not a true story, is it? I saw the original for the first time only about a month ago, and I was unconvinced. I thought it was “true” like the Blair Witch Project.

It is LOOSELY based on the serial killer Ed Gein, just as Psycho, and Silence Of The Lambs were. But no, there was never a cannibalistic family with a chainsaw killer in Texas (that we know of).

Dung Beetle, the movie is inspired by TRUE EVENTS.

Truth is stranger, and sometimes more sickening, than fiction.

Oh, him. Okay then. Thank you!

So, um… how many remakes, sequels, and rip-offs of this movie do we actually need? I love horror movies, but frankly, I’ve never found the Chainsaw series interesting.

As many as they can make money off of Lightnin’.

Shrugs, we all know it’s pretty old hat to recycle movies that have been cast aside and forgotten by the majority of the viewing public. I try to avoid movies that tend to lean on the 'mindless" side of cinema, a good chunk of horror falling into that category.

It does look good to me though, regardless of the rather shady film credits of the people behind it. If it’s good, great. If not, there’s always Sloth from Se7en to keep us company. Shudders

Cecil has addressed the “true” story part of TCM

I think what made the original good is it’s low-budget schlocky look and feel. It almost seemed like you had stumbled onto someones home movies.

I’m pessimistic that Michael Bay adding surround sound and Aerosmith songs will make it better.

They have changed the characters enough too. The Hitchhiker has been replaced by a girl who… aw crap I figured out what is happening…

The Girl is part of the family and will lure the kids to the house for supper…err as supper. Plus looks like the Police officer is part of the family. using the old The herone escapess to the police only to find out they are also involved cliche

Colour me unimpressed but I think this will be el crappo but a new audience who won’t watch a film older than five years old will think this is all new and shocking… Feh… I’ll be surprised if this turns into anything more than a cheap rip off lacking any of the charm and cleverness of the original.

Nice Trailer but it gives away the twists to anyone who knows the original

All I really want to see in Texas Chainsaw Massacre Redux is R. Lee Ermey as the sheriff.

R. Lee Ermey is in it? I think it’ll be a horrible movie, but that alone will make it worth seeing.
