I read somewhere on-line recently about an offer from the State of
Texas of a $3000.00 credit for new car purchases. It may have been the Houston Chronicle, or one of the local TV station websites. Now, I can’t find the article again.
The article said one could get up to $3500.00 for a hybrid purchase and listed the income requirements, and that it was intended to get olders cars or those who can’t pass emisssions tests off the road.
I didn’t qualify, so didn’t make note of the information. Of course, now I wish I had as some friends want to know about the program. I recall that 80 car dealers (dealerships?) were participating.
I got a letter in the mail from TxDOT (?) about this. I didn’t qualify, either, so I threw out the letter. However, IIRC, the car has to be >10 y.o. and your household income has to be below a fairly small amount.
