Text messages that re-send themselves

I only regularly text about five people, and they all have iPhones. I have a BlackBerry. Sometimes one of them will send me a message and then later in the day the message will arrive again. They have told me that sometimes messages of mine will re-send themselves, too. This does not happen often, maybe only once in 25 or so messages. This happen to anyone else?

Nope. I have an iPhone. Weird.

My brother-in-law uses text-to-voice messages sometimes, and we often get duplicates of those. I think he has a Blackberry.

I don’t know what text to voice messages are or how to do them. All of us only type messages.

Which provider do they/you have? is an important question. It’s happened with me with a Verizon feature phone. I am speculating it is because Verizon has had crappy coverage, and it sends the message, but doesn’t return the “sent successfully” signal.

Sprint. I do get the “sent successfully” indicator.

It’s where he puts in a text message, but it comes to our land line as a voice message (read by a robotic voice). He does this when there’s a message he needs to send to a bunch of people at one time. Everybody else gets a text message on a cell phone, but we have no cell phone so it goes to voice. I have no idea how he does it. Could be magic .

Sounds like magic.

I’m pretty sure that’s done by your landline provider. This side of the pond, if you send a text message to a landline then you get a robotic voice reading out the phone number it was sent from, then the message body iirc. Ymmv.

For a sadly short time in the UK, it was Dr Who reading it out. (Tom Baker.)

I have sometimes gotten a text that says duplicate message in the past on a razor flip phone (also motorola btw). I assume that what was going on with post #5. the message made it to the phone but the tower didn’t get the confirmation and resends. That phone was just smart enough to ignore but note the second sending.

I also believe I was not billed for duplicates as I did check.

A friend had a BB and would get duplicates aslo IIRC.

Wow. Now THAT makes sense.
