AND make the drivers and passengers get out and stand at attention. Story here. As if there were not enough traffic chaos in Bangkok
Thailand’s national anthem is played in public twice a day, at 8am and 6pm. People are more loose about it in Bangkok, but upcountry everyone stops and stands at attention for its duration. Even in Bangkok, places like, say, the train station, Skytrain stations or inside the common areas of office buildings, people will generally stop and stand at attention. (Out on the street, it’s so noisy that you can’t even hear the person next to you talking, let alone a loudspeaker some distance away.) But this proposed law is madness even for Thailand. Hopefully, this will not make it into the final version.
