Actually, there’s no chance, but I’d love to see it happen. (The page at the Web address at the end of the story is all in Thai. It will probably come out as gibberish if you don’t have the proper fonts downloaded.)

Does this mean you’ll change your screen name to Thailand Tim?
I don’t know too much about this, but as I understand it, the Thai are or were an ethnic group. Is there any distinction made in the country, and is this part of the movement for name change?
They could always do what their neighbors down the way did, but then Thaisia doesn’t sound quite right.
Well, this “movement” is a joke really. This is the first I’ve heard of it. I’d guess 99.99% of Thais probably know nothing of this. There really is no real movement. But I wish there were.
The nationality is Thai, but the ethnic group is usually spelled Tai and can be found all over Southeast Asia, from northern Vietnam to eastern India. There’s a pocket in southern China; in fact, many Thais are floored when they go there and see these “Chinese” speaking an understandable Thai dialect and maintaining Thai customs, such as the Songkran Festival.
