Thailand's Tiger Temple: A Bad Place

See here and here. I’ve never had a favorable opinion of this place, and these two new reports reinforce that.

The Tiger Temple in our Kanchanaburi province, which borders Burma, is fairly famous. Its actual name is Wat Pa Luangta Bua Yanasampanno Forest Monastery. Pay a small fee and have your photo taken with one of the many tigers living there. The monks will make you sign a disclaimer in case you actually do get eaten. I’ve heard bad reports about this place for so many years, but one of these new rports points out it gets up to 300 foreign visitors a day.

The place seems to be an ideal retirement compound for Siegfried and Roy. It would probably be safer to chain them and keep them in concrete boxes too.

Update: Yay! More and more foreign tour operators are boycotting this place, a Danish tour operator being the most recent one. See here.
