My lost Samsung flip phone got returned today.
It fell out of my pocket last August. I knew it was either in Home Depot or Lubys. Those were the two places I had visited that afternoon. They are across the street from each other. I had a bad feeling it was in the parking lot and got picked up or run over. I had actually driven back over there to check where I parked.
I’d already resorted to Ebay to get a Motorola flip phone. The AT&T center set it up with a new Sim card. My biggest loss was all my phone numbers. Those are irreplaceable. :smack: I had numbers that I’d never actually dialed in my life. I’d always dialed them from the phone address book.
My mom called today and Luby’s had called saying they had my phone.
three months later, but they got it! Fortunately I had Mom in my address book under “Mom”. So they gave that number a try. I have no idea where the phone has been since August. Maybe under their counter. <shrug> who knows?
I’m just glad somebody was honest and turned it in. There are good & caring people out there.
Lesson learned. I’m typing every number from that phone into a Word doc and saving it on my PC. I’m not losing those numbers again.
Anyone else got a story of something being returned?
You might want to write to Luby’s corporate hq to express your appreciation.
That’s a very good idea. Luby’s has a feedback form on their web site. I can specify the location too. I’ll leave a note about the great food and return of my phone.
I went ahead and ate at Luby’s today. Figured I owed them that much for returning the phone. I was hungry anyhow. Chicken fried steak, new potatoes, green beans and cornbread. Washed down with sweet tea. I can’t go in there for my phone and turn that down.
The Luann platter gives half portions and helps keep the waistline trim.
You might also ask AT&T if they can backup your SIM card, or if there is way for you to do it. Even though it’s not a smart phone, it seems ridiculous that you could always be one brain fart away from losing your phone book forever.
I’ll check and see if the Samsung has a sync feature on it. Some phones can sync to a address book on the pc. This one is pretty old. dad bought it in 2002 or 2003. I got it after he passed away.
I like my Motorola V365 a lot better. I checked the reviews and this one had a reputation of being built very tough. It was probably made in 2008. I got it gently used for $40 on Ebay. Much more modern flip phone with a camera than the old Samsung.
If you go out to your online AT&T account, go to the place where it shows the call details. You can type a name over the number and it will save the information on a contact list. Then if you go to manage contacts you can see your list of names and numbers. Your future bills will show the name instead of the number, but the contact list has both.
