Thank you, people of Ottawa.

No, really. (I just stuck this in the pit b/c of the inflammatory subject matter). Y’all got some guts, and I only hope the crowds in DC at the inauguration are as big and vocal and angry.

On behalf of all the (peaceful, non-violent!) protestors, I believe you’re entirely welcome.

Guts? How? Where was the risk? Nobody is going to be persecuted in Canada for attacking a foreign dignitary!

Agree with them if you like, but it takes no courage at all to do what they did.

Are you sure???

Ya, that was some real ‘Profiles in Courage’ action right there. Next thing you know, they’ll take their dogs for walks or get a cup of coffee at Tim Hortons. Utterly fearless, those Canadians…

Its cold up there man. In Febuary taking your dog for a walk is one step below mounting a Mt. Everest expedition.

Your point being?

Hey, getting a cup of Timmy’s isn’t that safe either. You try navigating past the Tim’s drive through at 8 in the morning. The line is often backed up into the road. And as nice as we may be, we drive as bad as everyone else.

It was the close connection between the PMO’s office and the excessive actions of the security that was the turning point for me with respect to M. Poutine. The video of the organizer being scooped off the street into an unmarked car prior to the visit was truly chilling.

I’m sure this doesn’t carry over to all of the protestors, but the ones that I heard on the news came across as very intelligent and reasonable, with a firm grip on politics, issues, etc. They were very well spoken and easily half as shrill as our american breeds have a tendency to be.

I give the protests a 9 out of 10 with three…I mean two thumbs up.
Pay no attention to my hideous third thumb

And this: “RCMP members used excessive and unjustified force in releasing tear gas to move the protesters when a more measured response could have been attempted first…”
