Damn! My irony meter just exploded, along with the seven backups I had, and they haven’t even been taken out of their boxes or had their batteries put in yet!
Sadly, I wasn’t kidding about Albania. Well, replace ‘sadly’ with ‘holy crap, a whole country fell for it’, and you get the idea.
Rune, you got any countering facts you’d like us to consider, or are you, like your fellow ideologue in the thread title, still just pissed at reality’s constant, stubborn refusal to fit your preferred conceptions of it?
Believe it or not, GD isn’t simply an Argument Clinic. That’s what the Pit is for, among other things. In GD, we *fight * ignorance - such as Sam’s, and, when you chime in with it, yours, for example.
Since you bring it up, nobody is clamoring for Sam’s banning as you claim, only for his developing a sense of principle and respect for fact based on something a little higher than strict partisanship toward a party he can only wish he could join. You might try it yourself and see what happens. Or try FreeRepublic instead if that effort is just too painful. Schmuck.
Damn, the Washington Times just got cited in support of Bush, didn’t it? Might as well cite the GOP Party Platform as cite the Moonie rag, **ivylass ** - try again, m’kay?
These not-so-subtle jibes from you fucktards about the few conservative non-American posters we have are getting quite old. Here is an idea: Shut the fuck up about it.
Did you actually read this? It doesn’t confirm a fucking thing. Some bimbo who Shrub was banging in '72 “remembers” that he went to Mongomery for Guard duty. She didn’t see what he actually did in Montgomery (he could have been scoring blow for all we know) and she decided that he must have been drilling with the ANG. Uh huh.
Oh, and those pay record do not show what Scott McClellan says that they show. They show he was paid, not that he ever showed up. Junior, to this day, has never produced any conclusive evidence that he ever showed for duty, the records still say that he had “not been observed” at the base and no one can remember seeing him there.
The article is rather slanted and doesn’t support the headline but you do know that the Washington Times is a right wing propaganda rag owned by Sun Myung Moon, don’t you?
As to some of the asinine allegations made in your first post. People were calling for an “investigation” of Bush’s ANG malingering? Really? Who? I don’t remember that. I remember the press asking to see his full jacket but that’s about it.
And who the hell is calling for an investigation of the Swifties? What are you talking about? I’ve seen no such call, unless you count the press digging up their money source, but that’s not “investigating” these dicks in any sort of personal way, it’s just pertinent information. These guys are heavily funded by rich Shrub supporters from Texas.
Brutus, it’s only “old” to you because you refuse to learn. Asking people who insist on the importance facts to “shut up” does not help you fight your own ignorance.
Who might be those illuminated we?
Having read the thread in question, I give this pitting a 2/10. Weak.
The ones *with * the facts, NI. Not you.
Or, better put, the ones who select facts to support their political agenda.
Clearly, some here don’t measure their responses by utilizing an objective process. Those that always lean left are just as guilty as those that always lean right, Elvis.
No doubt you could favor us with some choice examples then, UC.
I can only speak for myself, I’ve been known to ‘give in’ or have allowed my stance to become altered by new/further information. All I’m saying is that some on the left here are pretty steadfast in their positions, regardless. Which is just as wrong as those on the right who refuse to budge, regardless.
You seem pretty stiff yourself. For you to point the finger seems rather, well, hypocritical.
You narrowed it down to me. Okay. If you can point to your favorite instances where I’ve flouted the facts, or ignored or filtered them in a way I’ve been shown but kept on doing it, let’s have it, pard. Otherwise you’re just namecalling, ya see?
But you don’t have to narrow it down. You made a general disparaging comment about “the left” on this board and its general intellectual honesty. That’ll do too - you were already asked for some specific examples, and you haven’t come through with any at all, just a repetition of the same whine.
As we say back in old country, put up or shut up.
Thankyou.
In my above posts I purposely equated the left with the right. You chose to ingnore that fact and called me out for bashing the left. I did not do that. What I said is that the left and the right are both bad when they fail to take into consideration all the facts and rely on those that support their political agenda.
You only saw my posts as left-bashing. I guess you proved my point for me.
Ouch…
The thread topic is the dishonesty of a particular poster who is unmistakably and proudly a rightist. You chose to equate the honesty of others with
What you said was “Those that always lean left are just as guilty as those that always lean right”, as if that were a fact-based statement. I asked repeatedly for examples that would support your assertion, confirmed above, that the left and right are equatable. You have not provided them and the implications of that are not favorable to any case you may think you’re making.
Instead, you’re now spinning yourself into the realm of imagination by “clarifying” that *if * “the left” here were equally guilty of intellectual dishonesty, *then * they’d be equally guilty of intellectual dishonesty. If that’s what you’re claiming is your point, then you’re welcome to it. But isn’t it more honest as well as productive to discuss what *is * than what if?
And as I’ve told you, dipstick, here at casa rjung you have to prove yourself worthy of getting an apology first. Morons like yourself get nothing except derision.
Considering the OP is more adulation than pitting, I can see why.
Can you share the context of this for those of us playing from home?
How come some people (like you) always have all the facts, while some people (like me) never have any?
An oft-pondered mystery, to be sure.
