Thank you to those who suggested.....

I can’t remember in what threads the following books/authors were suggested but, wow, thanks a lot.

First and foremost; Dorothy Sayers, I have been on a Lord Peter Wimsey fest for the past 3 months. Reading the books, watching the videos and researching DS’s writings/life. And trying to do that damn cross-word puzzle.

I Capture the Castle; I would never have picked up this book without a SD recommendation. Loved it.

Cold Comfort Farm; See above.

The Flashman books by George MacDonald Fraser.

Woot, I’ve had a great reading spring/winter. Thanks to all.

On behalf of Flashman fans everywhere…you’re welcome!

And we should add:

  • can you lend me some money?

  • does your wife like to ride?

  • have you got anything to drink?

ummmmm

No

No, I don’t have a wife, but my husband doesn’t ride either

Yes

Your next reading assignment is George MacDonald Fraser’s The Pyrates, which is about pirates, as you may have guessed, and is quite possibly the funniest book ever written.

Try the various books of Nero Wolfe by Rex Stout. I wasn’t too impressed by Stout’s other books and characters, but Wolfe is a joy to read.
