Yesterday I received in the mail a copy of Peter de Rosa’s REBELS: THE IRISH RISING OF 1916 that Yojimbo bought at the Trinity college bookshop, inscribed to me by himself, Coldfire, Spiny Norman, TwistofFate, ruadh, and Globetrotter! And spots on the endpapers where somebody spilled his Guinness that night!

Really, though all credit goes to Yoji, he’s the one who remembered & chose the book and paid for it. I can discern from the others that Twistoffate is the one with the best backgrounding in literature, as the Yeats quote is in his handwriting. And it’s equally clear from the swoops in the "e"s and the tails on the "g"s that Coldfire enjoys drinking beer and fast cars…that Spiny Norman is over six feet tall and was wearing a yellow shirt that night…that ruadh is a total babe…and that yojimbo has a fine touch on the piano but is a poor pinochle player.
