I have heard that the citizens of this city are generous and today I saw generosity on a scale I have never seen before.
When I was leaving “Stuffmart” I noticed that the collection box that usually sits at the door was surrounded by people. The sign said that these donations would go to the Red Cross to support victims of Tuesdays terrorist attack.
I couldn’t see too many coins in the box, if there were they had been covered with bills. There were a few fives, quite a few tens, and tons of twenties. There were also a few fifty and one hundred dollar bills.
It was early in the day and the box was at least a foot deep in bills.
I want to say thank you to those people who probably didn’t buy that new CD or that new shirt so that they could give to people they have never met.
