Well, gosh. Has it escaped your attention that Time is an American magazine? Surprise, surprise, it has an American point of view. Duh.
American soldiers on the cover of an American magazine. Get over it!
I understand the point Lobsang and the others are making but I think it needs to be stressed that this “award” is not supposed to be an honour. It’s not supposed to be congratulating anybody for their efforts. It’s just supposed to reflect the year’s most significant newsmaker (in America). Hence past awards given to the likes of Hitler and the Ayatollah Khomeini. If you want to argue that British and Australian soldiers should have featured as prominently in the American news over the year as American soldiers did, go ahead, but TIME isn’t single-handedly responsible for the fact that they didn’t.
