A friend and I were recently talking about where we get our news from. I admitted that I don’t read any news sites or listen to news on TV or radio. “But you always know what’s going on,” the friend said.
And then I realized that everything I know about current events, I learn from the SD (which I read several times every day!) So thanks, everyone, for keeping me so well-informed!
I got stuck in bed basically lying on my side for about 3 months [Feb, Mar and April] and I really hated the Dope on smartphone, so started reading Reddit, and r/politics was a mainstay [though r/conservatives was great for disbelief amusement] so between that and C-span I was pretty well covered for political news - I actually watched Jan 6th going down live - my first comment to mrAru was that at first I thought it was footage from the 80s various third world political unrest reports. Once we realized it was going down live here, we were shaken as we didn’t really think the assholes would do something like that.
I still get most of my news off reddit, I was spending way too much time in infusion labs and waiting rooms, and their news/current event reddits are pretty current with what is happening. Dope is great for commentary and compare/contrast discussions, but I get more casual stuff from the Dope [though r/ostomy is great, we had a wonderful thread on names given stomas - my favorites are Vladimir Poopin, and Poopoo Baggins, possessor of the Brown Ring of the Middle Girth. ]
