Last weekend I was visiting my parents’ farm and I took the opportunity to scan my university transcripts on their scanner for a job application I’ll be submitting next week (Company A has requested an electronic copy). However, I realized on Wednesday that I forgot the actual physical copy of the transcripts at the farm and I need to make a photocopy of them for an application to Company B (who have requested a paper copy) that’s due at noon on Monday.
No problem, I’ll just get my parents to mail them to me, and on Wednesday night, they send them to me by Purolater Courier (the courier arm of Canada Post) guaranteed next day delivery, for $12 dollars. It’s now after 5 pm Friday with no letter in sight (I was home all day so there’s no chance that I just missed them). There is no weekend delivery. This letter had to be couriered approximately 150 miles and even with a guaranteed next day delivery, it hasn’t arrived in a day and a half and it appears that I won’t get my transcripts back in time to make a copy for my job application.
So screw you Purolater (or as I’ve come to call them, Puronever) for not being able to do a job for $12 what could have been done for a 50 cent stamp. I could have driven back to the farm on slightly more than $12 of gas and gotten the letter. A Pony Express mule could have gotten that letter to me in a day and half. I could have ordered a new set of transcripts from the University on Wednesday and gotten them in time if I knew this was going to happen (it’s too late now). So even though it wasn’t my money that was spent on your ineptitude, you’ll never get another dime of mine.
