Well, look here, it’s my first paycheck since the adjustments for the big tax cut. Last paycheck before the cut I had $70.48 withheld for federal and $52.28 withheld for FICA. This check I had $81.59 withheld for federal and $57.94 withheld for FICA. And on this check I had an hour less pay to be taxed! Gee, I thought the tax cut was supposed to help the lower-to-middle income taxpayers like me. Instead it looks like my taxes actually went up! At least my withholding did. More money out of my pocket, and after you promised your tax cut would return the (now rapidly dwindling) surplus to the people. Fucking lying sonofabitch rat-bastard creep.
Don’t blame me, I voted for Ralp. . . oh, oops. Never mind. . . But I can’t bitch too much because I just got the IRS letter announcing the 600 bucks I will get in September.

A. Otto tell me you didn’t really believe the ‘I promise every taxpayer will pay less taxes’ line. I knew it wouldn’t filter to me, and sure enough by the time it came out, the bracket I was in was to remain untouched.
B. capybara you are aware, aren’t you, that the IRS made mistakes in many of the letters, promising the top amount to some folks that won’t get that, right?
It is possible that someone at your worksite in payroll made a mistake. Download the withholding tables from the IRS forms page and check it out for yourself.

I just did the math on my latest paycheck, and I am bringing home just over $6 per check more with the cut. Eh, seems marginal, but it’ll mean about $150 at the end of the year. Combine that with the $300 I get in a couple months – I’m not complaining.

Got my first paycheck after the changes in withholding. The feds are now taking 0.68% less of my pay. Oh, yeah, I’m dancing in the streets.
