Back to topic: I personally find Christmastime is Here one of the warmest and most touching secular songs of the holiday. Wistful, even elegiac perhaps for us grownups reflecting on the simple days of childhood Christmases. But depressing, no…melancholy, not quite. For me, it glows, like those old-fashioned onion-bulb tree lights.

What Guaraldi cooked up with those 2 unique little tunes is all the more amazing when you consider that A Charlie Brown Christmas was virtually his only effort at straight-ahead jazz. He was almost entirely a latin-jazz artist.
