My only real mistake was in not waiting for the thread to go on for a dozen pages with Bricker bobbing and weaving and evading issues as always. It’s not like we haven’t had hundreds of gun threads before; we all know how the pro-gun side feels.
I’m not sure I need to say anything here. The stuff about killing black people and gays was so far off topic I could have just as easily called it trolling. You really need to try to stick to the subject of whatever threads you participate in.
You’re under the impression that it’s “obvious” that the posters on this thread who oppose gun control want “homosexuals, blacks, and other undesirables” to be murdered?
Respectfully, I don’t see how any reasonable person could believe that about most much less all.
Hmm… since you seem to be singling out Bricker among the pro-gun crowd you seem to be suggesting that it should be “obvious” to all of us that he wants “left-wingers, homosexuals, blacks, and other undesirables” to be murdered.
I don’t despise him the way others do, but I don’t have particularly warm feelings for him, and I’ve never seen him post anything that would cause anyone with a functioning brain to believe that your above suggestion about him is remotely accurate.
Were I you, I’d apologize to him or declare that when you claimed you thought the anti-gun control crowd wants left-wingers, gays, and blacks murdered you were wrong.
Basically yeah. If Der had written, “Except [del]left wingers, homosexuals, blacks and other[/del] certain undesirables, who should be shot,” he could have made a claim that was capable of being substantiated. But among a sliver of American far-right modern conservatives the tendency is to apologize for tyrannical brutality, not advocate it directly.
It will be interesting to see whether an entirely appropriate apology is forthcoming.
Hardly, considering that the American right loves seeing them dead. Including the gun nuts. We saw that just recently with the whole Zimmerman/Martin debacle, when even on this board posters could barely restrain themselves from admitting they wanted guns so they could kill off the “subhuman” blacks. And some failed to restrain themselves; Lonesome Polecat got banned over that as I recall.
Since you put the word in quotation marks, would you mind directing us to the post or posts where someone here referred to blacks as “subhuman”? 'Cause I’m having a bit of trouble believing that wouldn’t have gotten at least a Warning as well.
All of his posts indicate that he reads what he wants to read to substantiate whatever fantasy he’s manage to delude himself into. I’m pretty sure he actually believes what he writes, and so I doubt he’d bother to look for something that would contradict the world he’s created, it would create too much cognitive dissonance, and the subconscious brain is really good at subtly manipulating a person to prevent that from happening.
I live in England, where there are strict gun controls (e.g. you can’t have a gun for home defence) and the police on the beat are not armed.
And I’m happy with all that.
Although my politics are different from Brickers, I find his posts calm and well-researched.
It is very embarrassing for me to read Der Trihs’ highly exaggerated unsubstantiated ramblings.
Marley23 was correct.
Yes, as a matter of fact after posting I searched back six months and while I found 46 posts where the term “subhuman” was used, the mention that most stood out in relation to the Zimmerman/Martin case was by Der Trihs himself, again apparently putting the word in other posters’ mouths. Maybe I didn’t go back far enough.
In any event, probably doesn’t matter. What on earth would Zimmerman/Martin have to do with a discussion on press reporting of the type of weapon used by the PHL Navy Yard Shooter, anyway?
I thought Der Trihs got to post inflammatory hijacks as long as he only did so once per thread. To be fair, if it changed, the first time should be a Mod Note or something.
I only mildly oppose gun control, does this mean I only want some of said groups eliminated? Or does that mean I just don’t care one way or another if they are eliminated?
Der Trihs is more or less accurately representing LonesomePolecat’s posts in the Zimmerman thread, and Polecat was banned. Attributing those sentiments to anyone else doesn’t seem supportable to me.
