That's likely the last ___ I'll ever buy

Never buying another suit - I got rid of mine (rarely worn) after a funeral last year where it became clear that it was now a lousy fit after significant weight loss, so replaced with a nice blazer that will last the rest of my life.

Not likely to buy another wallet - mine is starting to look a bit worn, but it’s already almost 50 years old, and will almost certainly last another couple of decades.

My wife has firmly stated that we aren’t going to ever have another cat, but similar statements repeated before our several most recent cats have never had any effect, so I expect more cats in our future.

I was noticing how worn my wallet looked recently. May get a new one. I’ve really been reducing the cards/stuff I keep in it, so I may go down from a bifold to something smaller.

We just bought what I’m pretty sure will be our last new car. We didn’t really need a new car right now, as our current one is only seven years old and has a lot of life left in it. But, looking ahead, I didn’t want us to be shopping for our next new car when we’re decrepit and possibly unable to negotiate effectively with a car dealer. So this new one we’ll probably keep until the end of our days, as it’s a dependable and probably long-lived Honda.

I won’t be buying makeup again, because I wore my last makeup the day I retired, over two years ago. A storage box containing all my old makeup is stashed up in my closet, no doubt never to used again.

I hope I’m using my last purse. I just bought a Coach leather tote, and it’s made of tough pigskin, which looks like it wants to last forever. The tote is nice and spacious and I hope I never have to replace it.

I just bought a current product (a Yamaha electronic musical instrument) that uses USB-Micro for charging and data I/O. I knew before I got it and most reviews grumbled a bit (and especially 1/8" 3.5mm audio ports) but I figured no big deal. It’s undeniably shittier and I’m already making plans to bypass or (more likely) parallel to a USB-C or even a DC 5.5x2.1 mm barrel plug. And a larger battery.

Actually a new car is something I might buy if the major manufacturers ever start selling level 5, full self-driving cars [otherwise I buy old beaters and my existing ones have many years left considering how little I drive].

I will never buy more clothes. Actually, I have never bought clothes except for underwear. First my mother bought all my clothes, then my wife did.

I doubt very much I will buy another car. When this 18 yo (with less than 33,000 km on it) car goes, I will stick to Uber for anywhere I have to go.

Last year, I bought a brand new car, straight up, because I could, because I personally had never had a straight-off-the-lot new car before.

It is an EV that feels a little like a computer with wheels – but the tech aspect is endemic to all new cars these days. At least I can turn off a bunch of its cool features that I do not really want, and leave the center console display dark most of the time. For an old fart like me, it feels astoundingly comfortable. And quiet. Not much beats an EV for the quiet.

If I am lucky, this car will outlive me. I am trying to treat it nicely.

High heeled shoes. I was a ballerina when i was young and wore high heels to school all the time. Some of the kids called me “killer shoes."

But now i have two degenerating discs in my back, and arthritis in the corresponding vertebrae. I’ll never wear high heels again. It makes me sad. I really loved them.

Never wore high heels, but have owned and worn out several pairs of cowboy boots. Recently got rid of my last pair - rattlesnake - after a gig where I LOOKED cooler than my feet felt!

After several surgeries on my feet and both legs, I recently bought a pair of SAS shoes and will never again buy footwear without considering comfort over all else.

I’m a young’un compared to most posters on this board (44) so I suspect many of the things noted in this thread I may have to purchase again someday: I only have one suit and wear it maybe twice a year but if I ever have a different job where suit-wearing is mandatory that will change.

I was a Scoutmaster for several years and acquired a staggering amount of camping gear. 95% of that has been tossed or donated. Sleeping in a pup tent on a foam pad has zero appeal to me these days, so I doubt I’ll ever buy more camping gear.

Although I did just buy a North Face day pack for my daily work bag.

I have a DVD player that hasn’t been used in half a decade or more. My wife, who has hoarder genes, insists on keeping all the DVD’S we collected over the years – hundreds, I’m sure – but she doesn’t watch them so I suspect we’ll never get another DVD player. We still have some VHS tapes but have no VCR and haven’t for many, many years. I’m sure we’ll never buy another VCR.

I’ll never but another gas-powered lawn tool again. All electric from now on.

A couple years ago I bought a 300-pack of Q-tips, only to discover that I still had another big package in my medicine cabinet. I’m only 48, but since I very rarely use Q-tips, there’s a good chance I will never need to buy any more.

That’s a good one. I’m with you. (Of course, right now I’m trying to figure if I need to replace my mower battery…)

Good one. I did a lot of camping in my younger days. Long canoe trips, multi week hiking trips, and some car camping. I don’t know where my trusty tent is, but I don’t need it and I’ll never buy another one.

Same here.

Or guinea pigs.

Golf clubs (hopefully). I just bought a new expensive putter last summer, after having replaced all my woods and irons over the past couple of years. After I bought it, I told myself that it would be the last golf club I’d ever buy. My last set lasted 25 years, and I’ll be lucky if I’m still able to swing in 25 more.

And then just 3 weeks ago, I left my favorite wedge on a golf course, and no one returned it. So I bit the bullet and spent $150 to replace it. I’ll note that I’d never lost a club in my 35+ years of playing until then.

Do golf clubs wear out?

I was going to say fly rods because the last thing I need is another fly rod, but then my wife bought a new fly rod this week…

Golf clubs get broken over knees a fair amount of time. Or used by the kids as hammers, broken and hidden.

If you believe old sit-coms.

I’m 2 years from retirement. My plan is to get fitted at that time and buy my final set.

Not really. But technology does change enough that after 15-20 years, newer clubs might better. I’m still hitting 30 year old irons, but I replaced my woods about 15 years ago.

Also contributing, a player’s swing changes over time. I bought my current woods when I was a reasonably long hitting, reasonably low handicap 50 yrs old. And my irons when I was in my 30s. Now, in my mid 60s w/ increasing arthritis, different clubs/shafts would be more forgiving for me.

77 here, I just buried my last dog, he was 20, and it hit me at least as hard as any human death I have experienced. I am considering rescuing older dogs that would otherwise be euthanized. Camping, hunting, fishing, sports, formal attire, business attire, maybe 1 more car. I will be doing my last remodel soon. I will also be upgrading my last wardrobe soon with fewer Levi’s. I plan to rearrange my living style to accommodate more writing and research as opposed to building things. I would also like to entertain a bit more than I have been doing.
