So Baldricks cunning plan has finally come to fruition:
So what Order of Knighthood has he been granted? The article didn’t say, or I missed it.

I saw this a few days ago in some Time Team (aka Baldrick Digs up Britain) related news. Good for him!
He bleats on and on about being a socialist and then accepts this.
Not making sense …
He’s working to bring down the system from within, a sort of Frozen Horse.
This is old news. It was announced in June 2013 and he received it in November 2013.
He’s a knight bachelor, so he’s not a member of an order.
The best bit about the story was that Rowan Atkinson only got a CBE. It was almost as if they were rubbing it in.
But then Sir Tony’s work in popularising archaeology meant that he fully deserved the higher honour. It was an example of the honours system at its best. Even as the Time Team presenter, he didn’t have to become the public face of archaeology in Britain and yet he used his TV fame to encourage amateur interest in the subject. That’s the sort of public service that ought to get acknowledged in some way. You don’t even have to be a monarchist to think that.
I wonder how Robinson feels about everyone saying “Baldrick got knighted”. Okay, it was a well-known role he played as an actor. But you have to wonder if Robinson feels like saying, “Hey, I played that part twenty-five years ago. I played other roles as an actor, including Shakespeare. I’ve written books. I’ve hosted science and history shows and been awarded honorary doctorates. I’ve been an advocate for elderly care and other public causes. I’ve been a union executive. I’ve been a leader in the Labour Party. I’m not just Baldrick.”
“Sod off, Baldrick.”
That’s what people say to that!
Ha! I thought you meant the Lurchesque motivational speaker.
That’s what I get for passing on a link without checking first.
I wish he’d keep his history work limited to amateur archaeology. His enthusiasm helped make Time Team the great show it was. However, when he presents shows on history outside of archaeology he turns into a raving lunatic. He’s never happy unless he’s telling us how much Richard III is maligned and how the current Royal Family have little right to the throne.
They don’t seem to mind, since they let him dig on a lot of royal property. And Richard III was unfairly maligned.
Tony Robinson completely adores Baldrick. I think he’s okay with it.
And Nimoy was not just Spock. Nevertheless . . .
