That's the first time I've seen someone being hit by lightning

ahh picunurse…before picus existed, i took care of both burned babies and electrocuted linemen in a very general ICU that had a small burn unit. I don’t know about the cereal, but we (shame) did call them crispy critters, too. No lightning strikes, but I am reminded of Gretel Ehrlich, a favorite author, who survived one and wrote about it, that being her vocation prior to the Event.

At Harborview in the early 80’s, there was the Hanford worker who fell into radioactive water and got scalded pretty well- we all got Geigercountered on exit. He almost did glow in the dark.

Harborview is one of the burn units I worked. The others were San Diego and KU. That was before I went to PICU. I worked hematology/bone marrow transplant, dialysis, trauma, then burn. One day, I had the realization that I like to work somewhere that my patients didn’t pinch my butt and talk like I was FantasyGirl. Somewhere I could lift my patient with one hand to make the bed.

I worked at Harborview twice, once as a registry nurse in the late '70s then in the mid '90s. In the '70s I took care of a local celebrity thunderboat driver.

I’d be more offended if you didn’t show that. I miss nursing humour.
